Wednesday 29th October 2008 - Friends of Shaftesbury Abbey Annual Lecture
'Early Medieval Gardens' by Lady Jane Renfrew
In 1988 the herb garden at Shaftesbury Abbey, originally called ‘Aethelgifu’s Herb Collection’, was created under the direction of Lady Renfrew, Director of Studies in Archaeology and Anthropology at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge.
Lady Renfrew makes a return visit to talk about early medieval gardens.
This is the last in a series of events that have celebrated 20 years since the creation of the Anglo-Saxon Herb Garden at the Abbey.
Venue: Shaftesbury Arts Centre.
The Phoenix Room at the Arts Centre is available for pre-lecture drinks from 6.30pm.
Talk starts at 7.30pm
